What do we do?
We encourage business and industrial investment to broaden the tax
base and assist in the creation of new jobs. We represent the business
community at the national, provincial and local levels in legislative
and regulatory matters that affect business. We are involved with
and participate in education, health and environmental issues.
You and the Chamber
Basic to all activities of the Chamber of Commerce is it's unifying
influence. Members contribute to the organizational effort through
committee involvement. These efforts are mutually beneficial to the
community and to the members.
Why should you join?
We believe that it is essential for a healthy business community to
have an active and progressive Chamber of Commerce in the community.
The Rocky Mountain House and District Chamber is strong and active.
To continue this tradition, we need people who will take up the leadership
needed in this changing era. The united voice of the Chamber of Commerce
has proven very effective - where a single voice can go unheard.
When should you join?
How about today? The opportunities available to you as a chamber member
are challenging and profitable. The benefits are tangible for the
individual as well as to the community. Investments in your Chamber
of Commerce will produce results and continued returns.
Where do we get financing?
The Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization that is run as
a "business". Operating expenses are met primarily by membership
fees and fundraising activities. Your membership is an investment
in the present and future prosperity of this region.
The Organization
The board of directors are elected, by the members, at the Annual
General Meeting held in June of each year. Throughout the year, directors
carry out innumerable projects by chairing a committee in their specific
area of concern and expertise. The Chamber works closely with Clearwater
County, the Town of Rocky Mountain House, school and further education
councils, and many other organizations to achieve it's goal. The scope
of the Chamber's work is limited only by the desires of its members
for change. The Board of Directors represents over 350 members and
meets monthly to discuss projects the Chamber will initiate to benefit
you - the member. As a new member you are invited to join us for a
free lunch with your new membership, plus you can introduce your new
business to members present at our monthly meetings. Directors are
happy to answer any inquires you may have about the Chamber. They
are also available to hear your concerns and ideas.
